Ceramics Course in Kyiv: Sculpting and Glazing

Bring your idea to life in clay and create an original ceramic piece in two classes at KUST. Whether you choose a small vase, a box, a planter, a sculpture or a decorative object, you’ll take your project from hand-building to glazing.

The course is suitable for beginners and for people who have worked with clay before. An instructor will help you plan the shape, choose a technique and bring your idea to life.

How the course works

Class 1 — Hand-building with clay, 2 hours

You’ll learn the basics of hand-building, explore shape and texture, and create your piece with guidance from an instructor.

After class, your piece will stay at the studio to dry slowly and undergo its first firing. Once it is ready, usually after about two weeks, you can book your second class.

Class 2 — Glazing, 3 hours

You’ll learn how to apply ceramic glazes, choose your colours and decorate your piece. The instructor will explain how to work with the glaze and account for the shape of your piece.

After glazing, your piece will undergo a second firing. You can take it home once it is ready.

KUST studio policies

• Finished pieces are stored for 3 months from the date of the class.

• Please give at least 36 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Otherwise, the deposit or half the value of the gift certificate is forfeited.

The gift certificate for this ceramics course is valid for 12 months and can be used at any KUST studio.
