Create Your Own Ceramic Whale Lamp

At one of KUST’s most popular workshops, you’ll make a functional ceramic lamp shaped like a whale.

This ceramics workshop in Kyiv is suitable for adults and children. Come on your own, create with a friend or make it an art date. Two people can work on one lamp together.

No experience with clay is needed. An instructor will guide you through every stage, from shaping the whale to glazing it in your own style.

Workshop Programme

Class 1 — Sculpting

Duration: 4 hours

Using a plaster mould, you’ll create your whale and learn to work with clay slabs and coils, build volume, attach details and add decorative elements.

After the class, the lamp will remain at the studio to dry and undergo its first firing.

Class 2 — Glazing

Duration: 2 hours. This class takes place at least two weeks after sculpting.

You’ll choose colours and glaze your whale. The instructor will introduce you to ceramic glazes and help you create a design of your own.

After the final firing, you can collect the finished lamp from the studio or arrange delivery by Nova Poshta.

What You’ll Make

Important Information

Finished and unfinished pieces are stored at the studio for three months from the date of the first class. Please give at least 36 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a booking.
