At this ceramics workshop in Kyiv, you’ll make two pieces of tableware by hand, from shaping the clay to painting your own designs with engobes. In one class, a simple piece of clay will become something you can use for breakfasts, dinners and everyday rituals at home.

What will you make?

Choose your own pair of pieces: a cup and plate, a mug and bowl, or another combination. You can design the shapes, handles, textures, relief, lettering and decorative details yourself or draw inspiration from reference images. There’s no fixed template: you’ll make the ceramic tableware you’d love to have at home.

How the workshop works

The workshop lasts 3 hours. First, you’ll learn the basics of hand-building and working with slabs of clay. You’ll shape two pieces and refine their rims, handles and decorative details. A KUST instructor will help you build forms that are both beautiful and functional.

During the second part of the class, you’ll paint your tableware with coloured engobes, a type of underglaze colour for ceramics. The instructor will explain how they work and help you combine colours and create decorative effects. Afterwards, the KUST team will dry your pieces, fire them once, coat them with clear glaze and complete the final high-temperature firing.

The price includes 3 hours with an instructor, two ceramic pieces for each participant, professional clay, engobes, clear glaze, all necessary materials and tools, and two firings. The KUST team will handle every technical stage after the class.
