At this private pottery workshop in Kyiv, you’ll get to know the pottery wheel and create your own ceramic tableware. It’s a class about movement, focus and finding balance: the clay gradually takes shape under your hands, and the process offers a welcome break from everyday stress.

What will you make?

Each participant can make one or two small pieces, such as a cup, bowl, plate or sugar bowl. You’ll choose their purpose, proportions, colour and character. Even pieces made from the same idea turn out differently: the pottery wheel leaves the movement of your hands in the clay.

How the workshop works

The first class lasts 2 hours and focuses entirely on wheel throwing. The instructor will show you how to sit at the wheel, centre the clay, form the base and walls of your piece, and control their thickness. You’ll explore the form, add details and prepare your work for drying and its first firing.

The second class lasts 2 hours. You’ll paint your fired pieces with coloured engobes. The instructor will help you choose a palette, create your own design and learn about these underglaze colours. Afterwards, the KUST team will coat your pieces with clear glaze and complete the final high-temperature firing.

The price includes two private classes with an instructor, professional ceramic clay, engobes, clear glaze, all necessary materials and tools, personal protective equipment and high-temperature firings. The studio team will handle the technical stages between classes.

Who is the workshop for?

No previous experience with clay is needed. The instructor will guide you from your first attempt at centring to your finished forms. You can attend on your own or as a pair, making it a lovely choice for a creative date, time with a friend or a shared experience with someone close to you. The private format lets you work at your own pace and receive plenty of individual guidance.

What you’ll take home

After the final firing, you’ll have ceramic tableware you made on the pottery wheel and painted by hand. You can collect your finished pieces from the KUST studio in Kyiv approximately two weeks after the final class or arrange delivery by Nova Poshta.
