Not every ceramic piece has to be delicate or predictable. At this ceramics workshop in Kyiv, you’ll sculpt an expressive skull and turn it into a functional candle holder or keepsake box with a character of its own.

What will your skull look like?

First, you’ll choose what to make: a skull candle holder or a skull-shaped box. It can be anatomical, fantastical, gothic, colourful or playful. Add ornaments, plants, symbols, lettering or sculpted details. There’s no fixed design: each participant creates their own.

How the workshop works

The first class lasts 2 hours and focuses on sculpting with professional clay. Following KUST’s step-by-step programme, you’ll shape the skull, develop its features and build it for its chosen purpose. Then you’ll add texture and personal details. Afterwards, your work will stay at the studio to dry and undergo its first firing.

The second class lasts 2 hours and takes place approximately two weeks later. You’ll learn about ceramic glazes, choose a colour palette and finish decorating your sculpture. The instructor will help you combine glazes and create the effects you want. After the final firing, you can collect your piece from the studio or arrange delivery by Nova Poshta.

The Skull workshop is suitable for beginners and for those who have worked with clay before and want to try sculpting. It’s a great choice if you love unusual art objects, dark aesthetics, anatomical forms and bold interior details. No previous experience is required: the instructor will guide you through each stage.
