Ceramic Whale Lamp Workshop

This is a creative ceramics workshop for adults and children in Kyiv.
It is also perfect for an art date, as only in our studio you will work at a private table in a spacious ceramics studio in Podil with an incredible view.

If two people create one whale lamp together, the price remains the same as for a single workshop, since the project is perfectly suited for working as a pair.

Our instructors will guide you through every step of the process, helping you bring your ideas to life and create your own ceramic whale lamp by hand, while learning techniques of working with clay, glazing, and decorating ceramic pieces.

Workshop Structure

The workshop consists of two sessions, during which you will create your own lamp based on the “Whale” form.

Session 1 — Sculpting

During the first session you will hand-sculpt your own whale.

You will learn how to:

• build forms using clay slabs
• create volume using coil-building techniques
• sculpt and attach details
• apply graphic decorative elements

Our instructors will help you shape the sculpture and bring your creative ideas to life.

Duration: 4 hours.

At the end of the session you will have a clay whale sculpture, which will remain in the studio for drying and the first kiln firing.

Session 2 — Glazing

The second session takes place no earlier than two weeks after the first.

During this class you will give your lamp its final color and finish.
We will teach you how to work with ceramic glazes, explain their effects and properties, and help you achieve the desired look.

Duration: 2 hours.

After the final kiln firing, the finished piece can be collected from the studio or delivered via Nova Poshta.

KUST Ceramics Studio Policies

1. Storage of Works

Finished works are stored in the studio for 3 months starting from the date of the first class.
Please make sure to complete and collect your pieces within this period.

2. Booking Cancellation

If you cannot attend a booked workshop, please notify the studio at least 36 hours before the scheduled class.
Otherwise, the deposit or 50% of the certificate value will be forfeited.
