This workshop will introduce you to sculptural techniques in ceramics. You will create your own ceramic bear head, which can be designed either as a wall lamp (sconce) or as a decorative wall sculpture. To make the process easy and the result impressive, our instructors and step-by-step methods will guide you through every stage.
The workshop consists of 2 sessions, during which you will create a ceramic animal head based on the “Bear” form and learn essential clay-working techniques.
Session 1 — Sculpting
During the first session, we will teach you the basic techniques of working with clay and plaster molds. You will also gain introductory knowledge of anatomy, sculpture, and ceramic construction. You will learn how to shape and decorate ceramic surfaces. By the end of the session, you will complete your bear head and leave it with us for drying.
Session 2 — Glazing
The glazing session takes place no earlier than one week after the first. During this class, your task will be to give color and character to your sculpture. We will teach you how to work with ceramic glazes, explain their effects and properties, and help you find the best finish for your piece.
Duration: 2 hours
After the final kiln firing, you can collect your work from the studio or have it delivered via Nova Poshta.
The price includes all necessary materials and kiln firings, the clay base, as well as all required tools, equipment, and safety materials.
