About the course
This pottery course is for anyone who wants to explore ceramics in depth and learn to make pieces on the pottery wheel, from basic to more complex forms. The programme consists of 5 learning blocks of 2 hours each, covering the key techniques step by step.
Course programme
Session 1: Introduction to the materials and techniques; learning to centre clay on the pottery wheel.
Session 2: Review of the basics and making a cylinder—the foundation of many wheel-thrown pieces.
Session 3: Making simple pottery pieces and practising shaping techniques.
Session 4: Creating more complex forms and working on details and proportions.
Session 5: Throwing with grogged clay and experimenting with textures and decorative details.
